Party Girl

When you think party clothes, you think sparkle. I found a glittery dress and decided to amp it up with sparkly tights and heels.

Be honest... tell me... is this dress too short?  :-)

Seriously, I believe we can all wear whatever we want. Sure, this dress is short but I won't have these legs forever. Let me take 'em out for a spin while I still can!

  1. While the dress is cute - for me it's a little short and the neck line is a bit too low. But if you like the dress .. that's all that matters :-)

  2. There is seriously no need to hide those legs! I had sparkly tights once, too, but they broke. Need to get my hands on new ones, then!

  3. Too short for me to go anywhere in it because I don't trust myself to not flash everyone!

  4. You look great but IMHO the dress is a bit too short.

We were a bit snowed in this weekend and since my wife has been after me to pare down some of my woman's wardrobe I told her that I would go through my closet item by item giving her a small fashion show and if she thought that the item needed to be tossed or donated after she saw it on me I would cull it from the collection. In all I probably wore about 10 different outfits. She told me that two dresses just did not look good but that they would serve as nightwear/house dresses for just knocking around. They were crepe and had no form and, while comfortable, made me look like a tent farm.

Two other sweater dresses were deemed too short and were designated for the donation bag. One is already in the bag but the other is hanging on the door since she may try it on since it is a nice rich green color that she has been looking for for a while and while it is short on my large frame it may turn out to be long enough for her.

In reaching the decision on the two dresses that were too short she commented that I have very nice legs in my hose and heels but that the dresses were just too short for my age. As usual she was correct and I agreed.

As for the 6-8 that made the cut she complimented me on my taste and style and even made a few suggestions regarding jewelry and accessories.

I still have a ton of dresses that need to be worn and given the 'wifely review' to see what I will toss, donate or keep.

It was a great and enjoyable weekend at home. We cooked two great meals and she is really warming up to having a 'spare wife' to help chop veggies and prepare meals.

    1. What a nice story! Most of us envy you for that situation.

  5. Only you can decide if the dress is to short or not. But I agree with you on showcasing the legs/whatever your best feature is. And age has nothing to do with that. I haven't worn miniskirts since my 20s, but that's because my legs are not, and never were, my best feature...

  7. You look beautiful in that dress. Not really too short for a party dress I think :)

  8. I call that a "standing only" dress because if you sit down, whoa, too short! However, if you're at a party and you're standing, it's perfect! Also, as you note, you have major Legs! So show 'em! I love the deep neckline - I can't do that ('twoud be a boob accident waiting to happen, lol), but it looks amazing on you! Super fun outfit, Ally!

    1. When you have NO BOOBS, it's easy to play with plunging necklines. And, yes, you're right: I can't sit in it. :-)

  11. Love the sparkle! If you feel the dress is too short, maybe try it with opaque black tights?

    1. If I was going to wear this in public, your suggestion would be my choice, but I'm merely having fun here in a photo-shoot so there's no need to cover up.

  12. Ooh you look gorgeous! I love the neckline. And I do the same test as, Sheila. If I sit in a dress and a butt cheek comes out...it might be too short. Haha. (Unless, you're not planning on sitting then, eh... No biggie!) Also, I have to tell you because I thought it was so cute. But my grandma faithfully reads my blog, and always notices your comments. She really enjoys seeing "what Shybiker has to say about the post." :)

  13. Bit short to be a dress, but it would go great with some leggings for a night out. Still showing off your awesome legs but keeping you from flashing!

But hey that's the positive of your private photo shoots, you can rock what you want and dance around and feel magical and sparkly with no one to tell you no.

Tbh you have on more than some people wore to the Grammys. ;P

    1. Exactly! One, this is just a fun photoshoot with no concern about public appearance, and two, most of the Grammy outfits showed more.

  15. LOL at the comment "too short for church" :p

You have seriously great gams, momma... flaunt 'em :) Someone once told me my legs were my greatest asset, and it was a huge compliment for me... and ever since, I LOVE wearing shorts (which I never EVER did) and skirts. Bottom line: you wear what you feel good and comfy in :) What a fun sparkly number (perfect for NYE though you could def get away with wearing this out on the town somewhere!).

  16. As you know from my previous comment... it is too short for my taste. And I know about the legs, believe me. I emphasize my legs in every way I can. But not like this. Which is probably why I like skinnies so much. They show off my legs without having to be bare legged.
